Dicta can automatically process your transcriptions to improve grammar, remove filler words, and add smart punctuation.

Processing Options

Fix Grammar & Spelling

When enabled, Dicta uses AI to correct grammar mistakes and fix spelling errors in your transcriptions.

Before: “i went to the store and buyed some apples” After: “I went to the store and bought some apples”

Remove Filler Words

Automatically removes common filler words like:

  • “um”
  • “uh”
  • “like” (when used as filler)
  • “you know”
  • “so”
  • “basically”

Before: “So, um, I think we should, you know, basically go with option A” After: “I think we should go with option A”

Smart Punctuation

Automatically adds appropriate punctuation based on your speech patterns and pauses.

Configuring Text Processing

  1. Open Dicta settings
  2. Navigate to Text Processing
  3. Toggle the options you want to enable
  4. Choose your processing provider (if applicable)

Processing Providers

Dicta supports multiple text processing providers:

Apple Intelligence: Uses Apple’s on-device AI for processing (requires compatible Mac)

None: Disables text processing entirely

When to Use Text Processing

Enable for:

  • Professional emails and documents
  • Long-form content
  • Situations where polished text matters

Consider disabling for:

  • Quick notes to yourself
  • Casual messages
  • When you want exact transcription of what you said

Tips

  1. Review processed text before sending important communications
  2. Processing adds a small delay to transcription time
  3. Filler word removal works best for conversational speech
  4. Grammar correction may occasionally change your intended meaning
