Text Snippets
Text snippets let you create shortcuts that automatically expand into longer text during transcription. Say a short trigger phrase and get a full expansion.
How Snippets Work
When Dicta detects a trigger phrase in your transcription, it automatically replaces it with the expanded text.
Example:
- Trigger: “sig”
- Expansion: “Best regards, John Smith”
When you say “sig” at the end of a sentence, Dicta will replace it with your full signature.
Creating Snippets
- Open Dicta
- Navigate to Snippets in the sidebar
- Click the ”+” button to add a new snippet
- Enter your trigger phrase
- Enter the expansion text
- Save the snippet

Tips
- Keep triggers unique: Use triggers that you won’t accidentally say in normal speech
- Use abbreviations: Short triggers are easier to remember and say
- Test your snippets: Make sure triggers don’t conflict with words you commonly use
- Organize logically: Group related snippets with similar naming conventions
